Welcome! Maddie's InstituteSM is a program of Maddie's Fund, the nation's leading funder of shelter medicine education. Maddie's Institute brings cutting edge shelter medicine information from universities and animal welfare leaders to shelter veterinarians, managers and staff as well as private practice veterinarians, rescue groups and community members to increase lifesaving of homeless dogs and cats community-wide.

SAVING LIVES BY THE NUMBERS: HOW DATA SHOWS THE WAYEver wish you had a road map to saving more lives in your shelter? Gathering and understanding data will provide you with exactly that. Please join Maddie's InstituteSM and Drs. Jan Scarlett and Elizabeth Berliner for a special two-part webcast series on using data to save lives.
On March 8, 2012, at 9 PM Eastern, Dr. Jan Scarlett, Director of Maddie's® Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, will present Magical Metrics and Dazzling Data: How Medical Fact-Finding Guides Shelters to Improved Animal Health. Dr. Scarlett will teach participants about the collection and use of medical data in animal shelters, and how this can significantly improve the health of individual animals and the shelter population.

In One Door and Out the Other: Practical Flow-Through Planning for Animal Shelters will be presented on March 15, at 9 PM Eastern, by Dr. Elizabeth Berliner, Director of Clinical Programs for Maddie's® Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell University. Dr. Berliner will share with us how to move animals efficiently through the shelter with practical strategies to reduce their average length of stay, lower daily inventory and incidence of disease, and improve the quality of care.

Saving Lives with Antibody Titer Tests, featured leading veterinary immunology and vaccine researcher Dr. Ronald Schultz, MS, PhD, ACVM, discussing the use of antibody titer tests in animal sheltering as well as in private practice.
