MADDIE’S FUND FIELD REP RECEIVES AWARD

Maddie’s Fund Field Representative Lynne Fridley was given special recognition at the recent SPAY USA Southern Regional Leadership Conference held in New Orleans on December 5-8.

Lynne was invited to the Conference to give the Keynote luncheon address. The following day, she was totally surprised when SPAY USA Director Esther Mechler and Melanie Lambert of the Summerlee Foundation presented her with an award. The plaque reads: ‘To Lynne Fridley. For her incredible leadership in the state of Alabama in her commitment to end euthanasia of healthy adoptable animals and the ability to create a viable, vital network for this purpose.’ “I was honored with a standing ovation and it was quite an emotional moment,” reports Lynne.

Lynne definitely deserves kudos for her many accomplishments in animal welfare. As Executive Director of the Chilton County Humane Society in Clanton, Alabama, Lynne implemented a low-cost spay/neuter program that reduced shelter intake by 25% over five years. She served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Animal Control Association and two terms as President of the Alabama Humane Federation. Lynne spearheaded the effort among the state’s animal control agencies, traditional shelters, no-kill organizations and veterinarians to apply for a Maddie’s Fund grant and was a big factor in the first year success of Maddie’s Big Fix in Alabama.

Because of her outstanding leadership, Maddie’s Fund brought her on board to help communities in Alabama and Texas apply for Maddie’s Fund community grants. “Lynne is a real treasure,” gushes Maddie’s Fund President Rich Avanzino. “People in the movement respond to Lynne because of her enthusiasm, her can-do attitude and the fact that, like them, she’s been in the trenches. It’s a real boon for Maddie’s Fund to have her on our team.”
