No More Homeless Pets in Utah Surpasses Every Goal
(Alameda, CA - October 2003). No More Homeless Pets in Utah got an A++ on its Report Card at the conclusion of its third year, which ended on June 30th.
The statewide coalition that includes 90 veterinary hospitals, 25 no-kill organizations, 57 animal control agencies, and two traditional shelters, exceeded goal in every category.
The third year adoption goal for no-kill organizations was 5,743 above baseline. The actual number of adoptions was 6,406, or 111% of goal. The total adoption goal for all agencies was 7,998 above baseline. The actual was 8,080, or 101% of goal.
The goal to decrease deaths was 7,998. All told, 8,700 fewer animals were killed in Utah animal shelters.
The spay/neuter target was 10,000. Surgeries actually totalled 10,805 or 108% of goal.
"Through careful planning and thoughtful analysis, No More Homeless Pets in Utah has developed strategies that work," states Maddie's Fund® President Rich Avanzino. "We couldn't be prouder or more excited about the fantastic job this amazing coalition is doing."
The coalition's lead agency is Best Friends Animal Society. To follow the progress of No More Homeless Pets in Utah, log on to the Maddie's Fund website at www.maddiesfund.org/projects/utah.html.
