About Barbara Hanek, DVM

Dr. Barbara Hanek is the Director of Shelter Medicine at PAWS Chicago. After working in private practice for 20 years, Barbara started volunteering for PAWS. She was invited to join the staff in 2009. Under Barbara's direction, PAWS Chicago took in nearly 3,000 animals from Animal Care and Control in 2010. Thirty-eight percent of PAWS' intake consists of pets in need of medical or behavioral care.
