In May of 2017, Maddie's Fund® provided Best Friends with a $1.15M grant in support of their 2025 campaign to advance lifesaving throughout the country.
Key components of this partnership include:
- Coalition building on a regional and national level. This includes through Best Friends Regional Animal Welfare Summits and support of the 2017 Best Friends National Conference focused on coalition building efforts and education around best practices for over 1,000 animal welfare leaders.
- Lifesaving through achievement of a feline save rate of 90% by the end of 2019 for the new Riverside, California Community Cat Project. This also includes mentoring grants to five cities with the Best Friends No More Homeless Pets® Network to launch trap-neuter-return and shelter-neuter-return programs.
- Innovating and leveraging technology: Encouraging teams of engineering students through selected Hackathon events to develop ideas, applications and project roadmaps with the goal to end the killing of dogs and cats in our nation's shelters; and adding a channel in Maddie's® Pet Forum for Best Friends Network partners.
