Maddie's® Pet Rescue Project
Maddie's® Pet Rescue Project is working with Maddie's® Spay/Neuter Project to save all of Erie County's healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats within five years.
Maddie's® Pet Rescue Project is comprised of the SPCA Serving Erie County (Lead Agency), the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter and four adoption guarantee organizations - Black Dog, Second Chance; HEART; Second Chance Sheltering Network; and Ten Lives Club.
Maddie's® Pet Rescue Project in Erie County has achieved and maintained an adoption guarantee for all healthy shelter dogs and cats for 21 months and is saving 80% of its treatable shelter petsat the nin month mark of Year Two.

Maddie's® Spay/Neuter Project is administered by Operation PETS: The Spay/Neuter Clinic of Western New York, Inc. (OPETS). Thirteen private practice veterinary hospitals have also agreed to participate. Low-cost surgeries are available to Erie County pet owning residents who receive Medicaid and to Erie County residents who manage feral cat colonies. The maximum total number of surgeries to be performed under this program is 17,591.
