Austin Pets Alive! started off as a very grassroots organization, raising every dollar through word of mouth. Five years later, APA! has grown and the needs of fundraising have, too. This presentation addresses how to plan for bigger funds: what information do you need to have, what database do you need, how much time needs to be devoted to each category of fundraising and what does your development team ideally look like. Even organizations starting out now can take useful tips from this presentation home with them. This program was part of the American Pets Alive! 2015 No-Kill Conference.

About Diane Blankenburg

Diane BlankenBurg is the CEO and Principal Consultant for Humane Network, a national consulting organization dedicated to helping shelters improve their live-release rates for dogs and cats. She was the Community Programs and Development Director for Nevada Humane Society that helped create and maintain a community-wide live release rate of over 92%. She also co-developed and co-facilitates the online Lifesaving-Center Shelter Management Certificate Program at the University of the Pacific. Diane has over 12 years of experience in animal welfare and sheltering and 24 years in business consulting, facilitation, training, and coaching. She has a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of San Diego.
