Adoption: Offsite Programs

Taking pets out of the animal shelter and into places where people congregate has been an effective adoption strategy for many years.

Two fine examples of successful offsite adoption programs are profiled in detail here:

The SPCA of Texas places more than 1,500 cats and dogs at over 150 different sites each year.
The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley uses a slightly different approach: a satellite adoption facility where more than 2,000 animals are annually placed.

The project, No More Homeless Pets in Utah, also utilizes a satellite adoption facility. Located in a popular shopping mall, Furburbia found homes for 1,100 dogs and cats in its first year of operation!
