This workshop discusses the importance of developing an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for your agency. Emergency planning helps prepare shelters and clinics to maintain mission critical operations after an emergency or disaster.
The presenter, Tim Perciful from the ASPCA's Field Investigations and Response Team, guides the audience through the important components of an effective emergency operations plan including risk assessment and analysis, essential functions, response capabilities, types of emergency animal shelters and volunteer and donation management. This presentation was recorded at the 2019 ASPCA Maddie's® Cornell Shelter Medicine Conference.
Tim is the Disaster Response Manager for the ASPCA's Field Investigations & Response Team. Tim has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Public Relations concentration and has certifications in/as: Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) Instructor. Tim's responsibilities include responding to major incidents involving animals across the country and working with jurisdictions to help prepare for various disasters.
Tim's background in the fire service and animal rescue has allowed him to respond to various incidents involving both humans and animals including landslides, tornadoes, hurricanes and wildfires. This experience has allowed him to teach animal emergency response, wildland firefighting, technical large animal rescue and much more. Tim lives in Seattle where he enjoys photography and spending time with his wife.
