Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days was a two-day event honoring the memory of the foundation’s beloved namesake, a Miniature Schnauzer named Maddie. The 2015 event, themed Thanks to Maddie, was held May 30 - 31 in six counties: Washoe County, NV; Dane County, WI; and Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and San Francisco Counties, CA.
Last Pet Standing:
I really couldn't guess why not CJ. He is a sweet 7-year-old scruffy terrier. He was a little shy and didn't approach adopters. I'm sure he hung out under his bed when the waves of people were washing through the shelter. When he was all on his lonesome, he showed very well and was adopted just a few days later on June 4!

Started in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2010, the purpose of this program was to increase the awareness of shelter animals, shed light on the tireless efforts of shelters and rescue organziations and find new families for homeless dogs and cats. To date, Maddie’s Fund® has awarded $26.7 million to more than 250 participating groups that have found homes for a total of 36,282 dogs and cats. The money given by Maddie’s Fund has enabled shelters and rescue organziations to treat and rehabilitate senior pets and those with medical conditions - animals who likely would have been euthanized otherwise.
Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days is a collaborative effort of countless people who want to save the lives of shelter animals, a testament to what can be done when people come together to rally for a common cause.
