Pet Retention Program - St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center

February 2017

Audience: Executive Leadership, Shelter/Rescue Staff & Volunteers

ASPCA research shows that 7.6 million companion animals are surrendered to shelters every year. Of the companion animals that come into your shelter or rescue, how many have you felt could have easily stayed in their home or found a different route to a new home without entering your shelter? Tara, the Pet Retention Coordinator at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, will talk about just that. She runs St. Hubert's Pet Retention Program and will be discussing how they assist community members in finding alternative paths for their pets other than shelter surrender, as well as how you can start a similar program at your shelter.
