A: Single Sign On or "SSO” is a software tool that allows users to login to multiple online tools using a single user id. SSO is like a passport that grants access to multiple online tools, previously requiring a unique email and password for each online tool.
A: Maddie’s Fund is adding SSO to simplify the login process for our visitors, allowing access to multiple online tools (Maddie’s® University, Maddie’s® Pet Forum, Maddie’s® Shelter Compass, etc.) with a single login. Once logged in, you can easily navigate to any other application that would have required a separate login and password. One and done.
A: Up until now, Maddie’s Fund’s online tools have registered users separately. Because users of different online tools may have registered themselves using different identifying registration information, the process of moving to SSO may require some users to ‘clean up’ their registration data stored by Maddie’s Fund’s various online tools.
During this implementation process, some users will migrate to SSO with little extra effort - upon login they will be migrated to the new SSO account and prompted via email to choose a password and security question. Other users, particularly those who have multiple registrations (in both Maddie’s® Pet Forum and Maddie’s® University, for example), or who have used different email addresses for those different online tools, will be asked to reconcile those accounts.
The SSO migration process will attempt to find multiple email addresses for a single user and, when those are found, users will be asked in a step-by-step approach to designate which email address will be used for Maddie’s Fund SSO going forward.
It is important for those users required to and prompted to reconcile multiple accounts to complete this process as soon as possible. Users who do not complete the email reconciliation process may lose access to some content previously created on Maddie’s Fund's online tools.
A: Users will need to access and verify at least one email address previously used on Maddie’s Fund’s online tools to complete the email reconciliation process.
A: Yes. Maddie’s Fund users are now required to enter a valid first name and last name.
A: No. The SSO migration procedure is designed to walk users through the migration process in a step-by-step approach. You may contact us at SSOquestions@maddiesfund.org in case multiple email accounts are not discovered.
A: Once the SSO migration is complete, and provided users follow the SSO migration instructions, a user’s content should be accessible under the Maddie’s Fund SSO login.
A: Users who have not completed the email reconciliation process after 3 months may be required to re-register as a "new user” under the new SSO system.
A: Once you log out of a Maddie’s Fund online tool, you are logged out of ALL of Maddie’s Fund's online tools you were using.
A: Should you choose the incorrect email during the migration process, you can visit sso.maddiesfund.org/reset-account. Follow the prompts on the page and your account will be reset to its original state.
A: Your single sign on email address and password will be activated in mid-September. You will receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org with more information when SSO is live. Until then, please continue using your previous password and email address to access Maddie's Fund's online tools like Maddie’s® Pet Forum, Maddie’s® University and Maddie’s® Shelter Compass.
