The Austin Animal Center (AAC) saves more than 95% of cats by reducing the numbers of cats that enter the shelter system. Through TNR, community cat return, innovative animal control policies, and their partnership with Austin Pets Alive! and the barn cat program, AAC has almost completely eliminated convenience killing of cats. Not only that, AAC microchips all cats before returning them to the community so they can track what happens to the cats when they leave. This presentation was recorded at the 2016 American Pets Alive! Conference.
