The goal of this lecture is to discuss and to provide some helpful pointers on performing various non-spay/neuter procedures frequently handled in a shelter setting. These include the surgical management of mammary masses, inguinal hernias, cystotomy, the pros and cons of gastropexy, and intussusceptions. This presentation was recorded at the 2019 ASPCA Maddie's® Cornell Shelter Medicine Conference.

About Galina Hayes

Dr. Hayes graduated in 1998 from the University of Bristol, England. After several years in mixed as well as general small animal and ER practice in England and Canada she completed two residencies in small animal emergency medicine and critical care and in small animal surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College, Canada. She also completed a PhD in epidemiology. Her passions are evidence-based medicine, complication free surgery, and statistical modeling. She currently works as a faculty soft tissue surgeon at Cornell University.
