
WisCARES, a University of Wisconsin program, combines subsidized veterinary care with social services for families experiencing housing insecurity and/or poverty. It also serves as a teaching and training environment for current and future veterinary and social services professionals.
Total Grants to Date: $2,764,168 since 2016
- Provides subsidized veterinary care, pet food, supplies, housing advocacy, and foster/boarding support
- Functions as a teaching facility for veterinary medical, veterinary technician, and social work students and professionals
- Maddie’s Fund has also supported key staffing positions, including a certified veterinary technician and veterinary social worker
In December 2024, Maddie’s Fund awarded a six-year grant to expand the Community Pet Resources Center and Veterinary Clinic.
