About Sonia Gonzalez

With passion and dedication for the welfare of all animals, Sonia has spent much of her life learning as much as she can about humane initiatives such as the No-Kill Movement. She started volunteering with different animal organizations at a young age and has since spent her time constantly striving to learn and gain experience. When she was just starting as a kennel technician, she began paying her way to attend conferences such America Pets Alive and the Best Friends National Conference to learn and network with other organizations.

She has made an effort to gain experience in many positions at shelters and in the animal field in order to understand each working part of what it takes to enrich and save more lives. She is currently the Intake Coordinator at the SPCA of Tompkins County and Director of Camp SPCA, a humane education day camp. She is also working on receiving a Bachelor's Degree in business. When she's not at the shelter Sonia enjoys spending as much time as possible with her dog, cat, turtle and partner. You can often find her backpacking, cooking or kickboxing.
